Oil heater

The heaters are used for air-cooled engines or in combination with an engine heater for the coolant.

Description

Heaters in the 600 series are used for air-cooled engines or in combination with an engine heater for the coolant. Oil manufacturers have stipulated a maximum value of 2.4 W/cm² for the surface of the heating element to prevent any adverse effects on the quality of the oil. For large vehicles with oil pans of adequate size, the active part of the element is placed in the oil. The power of the oil heater is usually rated at 250W. Therefore, these elements do not have a lead fuse.

Use

Normal usage – DEFA engine heaters are designed for “normal usage.” DEFA defines “normal usage” as; 3 connections for 3 hours pr. Twenty-four hours for 150 days (5 months) a year.

Professional use – For use emergency vehicles or other vehicles where the heater is in use continually, yearly controls are necessary. It might be necessary to install a replacement heater. DEFA AS will not cover the yearly service cost.

NOTE! Pulse power – Some parking facilities use interval (pulse) power timers that turning the power On and Off several times per hour. Using a DEFA engine heater in combination with these timers is NOT considered “Normal use” and claims will be declined.
