From 1 January 2027, DEFA Solid can no longer be installed due to new regulations. The charger remains a safe and reliable charging station, and the phase-out does not affect products already installed.
The transition is driven by new European regulatory requirements:
- Regulation (EU) 2023/1804 (AFIR)
- Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/656
These regulations introduce new requirements for vehicle-to-charger communication based on ISO 15118-20, enabling advanced functionalities such as Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and other V2X applications.
DEFA Solid does not support ISO 15118-20 and will therefore not meet these new installation requirements, but the charger remains a safe and reliable. Installations completed before 1 January 2027 will not be affected by this change.
At DEFA, we welcome the move towards common, open standards for EV charging. These standards will enable greater interoperability and contribute to an even better charging experience across the industry. DEFA Power has been developed to meet these next-generation requirements, positioning us well for the transition to the new regulatory framework.
