These heaters have a flange shaped like a cup so that the active element fits within the cup. The heater is fastened with a press fit. This heater is used with engines that have coolant tanks that are too small for other heaters. It can only be installed in vehicles with cast iron engine blocks. Engine pre-heaters are supplied separately because of specific necessary adaptations to each individual engine and vehicle type.
