Description

DEFA has focused on easy installation and optimal heating functionality during the development of engine preheaters. For different engine and vehicle combinations, DEFA has nine primary heater elements with more than 500 variants and over 5000 individual applications.

The 300 series heaters consist of a cup or a disc-shaped flange. The heater is fastened to the engine block with a fixed or a spreader rail.

Engine pre-heaters are supplied separately because of specific necessary adaptations to each individual engine and vehicle type.

Usage definitions

Normal usage – DEFA engine heaters are designed for “normal usage.” DEFA defines “normal usage” as; 3 connections for 3 hours pr. Twenty-four hours for 150 days (5 months) a year.

Professional use – For use emergency vehicles or other vehicles where the heater is in use continually, yearly controls are necessary. It might be needed to install a replacement heater. DEFA AS will not cover the yearly service cost.

NOTE!  Pulse power – Some parking facilities use interval (pulse) power timers that turning the power On and Off several times per hour. Using a DEFA engine heater in combination with these timers is NOT considered “Normal use” and claims will be declined.

Technical description

The heater is fastened to the engine block with a fixed or a spreader rail, which is fitted against the inside walls of the engine block, and a nut/sealing nut to secure the rail. This method is also used if there is not enough space around the heating element for a press t heater (000/100 series) and also for aluminium engines.
